GOOD NEWS!!!

NO CANCER was found in my bone marrow! This means the chemo worked! Yeah!!! Thank You God! Thank God for all His blessings!

But the fight isn't over.

Starting on the 18th, I'll be undergoing radiation treatment aimed specifically on the tumor in my head. This shouldn't be too bad and will have few side-affects. I'll do this until May 3rd. Then . . .

On May 3rd, I'll go into the hospital and have three days of FULL BODY radiation. I've heard that this is worse than chemo. Gulp. After that, I'll undergo what the docs are calling "chemo from hell" because it will completely kill my bone marrow. That will last four or five days. After that, I'll get the transplant. Then we wait for the new cells to grow and wipe out my old cells and any disease that's left over. Whew.

The reason they have to give me new bone marrow is because the cancer will return. The less disease the new cells have to fight against, the better chance we have of them winning.

Despite the good news, I've been very down lately and having a hard time getting out of this "slump." I should be feeling great! I haven't had chemo in weeks, and I'm so much stronger than I've been since this whole thing started. I don't know what my problem is. sigh I guess I'm just scared. And well . . . there have been other things going on my my life.

Anyway, there ya have it! :-)

  2. Dear Sandi, I just want to cry for you, but I know that won't do any good. Then I want to joke about it to ease the pain, and laughter is good for the sole, so here is the joke...... Instead of paying big bucks for the radiation treatment, you can go wade in the water in Japan for free!! LOL... We are continuing to pray for you and we know you are in Jesus hands.... now that can't be beat! Trust in Him.

  4. Sandi,

Dealing with a long term illness is hard. It takes a lot out of you. Even though you are not in chemo now, you are still more tired than usual and it takes a toll.

Since I am dealing with a long term illness, I totally get that. The good news is that you are on the mend. I'll keep praying.

  6. Ah, my friend. Don't be so hard on yourself. It's natural to feel down after all you've been through and all you're about to face. Even after good news (cancer free bone marrow, Praise the Lord!!!), you're body and emotions are tired!! Thankfully, our Heavenly Father doesn't only love chipper daughters! David was called the apple of His eye, and that man did his share of whining, saying, "I pour out my complaints before you." One thing I've noticed is when I pour out all the junk I find myself with more capacity for hope and faith. :O)

Praying for you and sending lots of love.

  7. Sandi you have permission, you know, to have a slump. It will pass and is no reflection on your faith or God's faithfulness!

Praise God for the healing journey He 's taking you on.

  18. “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. …” 1Cor. 6: 19-20 (NIV) It helps to know who you belong to—the creator of Heaven and earth. He paid a high price to gain what was once His, lost and now regained. Sandi, you belong to God. “Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” Rom. 8:17 (NIV) Love you!
